Alive Through Him

The title of this piece is Alive Through Him because it demonstrates that, ”The spirit of God has made us and the breath of the almighty gives us life.”- Job 33:4. I used acrylic paint to paint the lungs that represent the idea that the Lord has given us life and we can do anything through him who strengthens us(Philippians 4:13). Another media I used was origami to create paper lilies that symbolize Jesus Christ and the crucifixion. I then added color and dimension to the lilies with watercolor. To round out my piece I added the Job 33:4 verse to reinforce the idea that we need Jesus in our lives to sustain us and guide us. This piece is very important to me because it helps to portray my personal connection with Christ and my love for him. I can see myself making future pieces like this because of how deeply I feel about the subject.

Spooky Painting

This painting is based on a photograph of an arrangement of pumpkins and skulls. It was created using acrylic paint, and techniques such as underpainting and blocking. My goals were to create a spooky painting, and instill the halloween spirit in my viewers. I did reach my goals because I feel like this painting is very spooky. From this process, I learned that I need to work on proportion while painting real-life objects, and properly painting perspective.

Olive Painting
image.png

This painting was created from a macro photograph of green pimento olives. The materials used were acrylic paint and medium. The techniques used were dry brushing, blocking, and under painting. This painting was inspired by my great grandmother because she always had olives in her martinis so I wanted to make this painting in her memory. From this process I learned that paint looks better when it is put on thick and not watered down.
